The Sundered Crown

Penned on January 15, 2025

Prologue

In the Third Age of Elendir, the High Kingdom fell not to blade or sorcery — but to its own ambition. King Theodric IV, desperate to bind the seven warring duchies under one banner, commissioned the forging of a crown from the shards of a fallen star.

The Aurelian Crown granted its wearer the strength of ten men and the wisdom of the ancients. But star-metal remembers. It thirsts.

The Shattering

On the night of the winter solstice, the crown spoke. It demanded dominion over all free peoples of the continent. When Theodric refused, it shattered — and each of the seven shards found its way into the hands of the seven dukes.

What followed was a century of blood.

The Present

The shards remain. Each bestows a fraction of the crown’s original power, and each whispers to its bearer in the quiet hours of the night. A new generation of adventurers rises, chasing rumors of a rite that can reunite the pieces — or destroy them forever.

“Power is not taken. It is remembered.”
